Review: Miguel De'Unamuno's Hunger of Immortality

Review: Miguel De'Unamuno's Hunger of Immortality

Let us begin by stating that this review is on Unamuno’s essay which he called the hunger of immortality. This is a chapter in his work titled the tragic sense of life published in 1912. It should be noted that this work is more of a personal account of his life than it is considered as a philosophical work. In this work, he claimed that man is the subject and supreme object of philosophy. Thus, he can be rightly described as an existentialist. It is worthy of note, that the form of immortality he was concern with here is different from the religious form of immortality. For the sake of clarification, let us attempt the meaning of the term immortality.
