ABSTRACT
The thrust of the study which carried out in the Cenozoic Niger Delta is to infer and predict potential Petrophysical properties and hydrocarbon presence in unexplored areas proximal to producing areas in the eastern flank of Cenozoic Niger Delta, Nigeria, using seismic data and analogue proximal well data set from a producing area for subsurface reservoir characterization. Seismic and offset well dataset were used as input dataset to carry out Petrophysical evaluation, Seismic interpretation, Seismic inversion, Prospect identification, Geostatic modeling for structure/lithological and hydrocarbon property distribution and estimation of the potential hydrocarbon volumes and inherent uncertainty. Petrophysical evaluation was carried out on the available proximal well data set and the reservoirs with hydrocarbon were delineated and identified. The structural frame work of the area was delineated with Seismic interpretation techniques, and prospective potential geo-structural fault dependent closures for hydrocarbon accumulation were identified. Seismic inversion was performed on the interpreted area and the result was integrated to aide subsurface characterization of potential reservoirs biased to Petrophysical properties and hydrocarbon presence. Petro-acoustic analysis were carried out to evaluate the relationship between elastic (AI and VPVS) and Petrophysical properties (volume of clay (VCL), Porosity (PIGN) and Water saturation (SW)). Regression curves and cross plots were done for AI versus VPVS ratio, AI versus PIGN, and AI versus VPVS versus SW. The lithoclass definition of Class 1 (Shale) with a condition of VCL>0.4, Class 2 Non-reservoir sand with a condition of VCL0.5, and Class 3 Reservoir sand with condition VCL
