ABSTRACT

"This study investigates the effectiveness of the freedom of assembly and association in

a multi-party Uganda by examining the legal frame work governing it at national and

international level. The study is based on the objectives of examining the importance of

the freedom of assembly and association, the effectiveness of the law governing it and

how it has been conducted using desktop where library research was much used

together with internet searching. The research entails five chapters where, chapter one

gives the general introduction of the study, the background, the statement of the

problem, objectives significances, research questions and the like. Chapter two analyses

the history of freedom of assembly and association in Uganda from the time of colonialists to date. Chapter three analyses the legal framework governing freedom of assembly and association at national and international level. Then chapter four explains how the freedom has been violated while as chapter five gives the conclusions and recommendations of the study. It also gives the way forward as to the violation of the freedom of assembly and association in Uganda'~
