ABSTRACT
This study assessed charity home activities, needs and excesses: impact factors of reduction of child neglect and abuse and re-integration into society.
Descriptive survey research design was adopted in this study. The population was drawn from Blessed Assurance Orphanage Home. 65 respondents participated in the study. The research instrument used for the study was The Multidimensional Neglectful Behavior Scale (MNBS), Child Abuse Potential Inventory (CAP), Orphanage Adolescent Scale (OAS). Data generated was analyzed, demographic data of the participant was analyzed using frequency distribution and percentage while regression analysis was used to test the hypothesis at the 0.05 level of significance with the aid of Statistical Package for Social Sciences IBM SPSS version 24 software.
Findings from the study showed that Charity home was not a contributing factor of child abuse and neglect but reduce child abuse and neglect in the society, There was significant relationship between charity home and child abuse and neglect and charity home awareness has significant impact on the reduction of child abuse, neglect.
It can be concluded that there was significant impact of charity home on child abuse, neglect and abandonment in the society. The findings recommended that proper family integration should be fostered to reduce child abandonment in the society and counsellors/orphanage home should organise programmes that may discourage child rearing practices outside wedlock and means to foster family building.
