AN INVESTIGATION INTO THE ROLE OF SECRETARIES IN THE 21ST CENTURY IN SELECTED BANKS IN ENUGU URBAN

 ABSTRACT 
The aim of this is to investigate and find out the role of secretaries in the 21st century. To do this effectively the research took into consideration the concept of secretary function of a secretary the problem they encounter in the course of discharging their duties.
Some research questions were formed for the study and the study and the research use percentages and figures to analyze the data collected. The population consisted of (30) thirty respondents out of which (24) twenty-four representing 80% returned their questionnaires. The data used for the study was collected through the  use of  questionnaires which was distributed to respondents and was collected back by the research personally. Form the data analysis it was discovered the services of a trained secretary is needed by the 21st century manager in other to advice a grater level of productivity at work.  It was also shown that if manager are provided with computers they still cannot do without secretaries.
The analysis however disclose some problem facing secretaries in the 21st century like non-organization of security lack of motivation by management lack of formal securities training poor remuneration and not being computer literate etc.
Finally it was revealed that the role of secretaries in the 21st century in business world is so indispensable that managers cannot do without secretaries.
