ANALYSIS OF SANITATION AND WATERBORNE DISEASE OCCURRENCE IN ONDO STATE

ABSTRACT

Waterborne  diseases  are  linked  to  significant  disease  burden  worldwide.  Waterborne  diarrhoea disease,  for  example,  is  responsible  for  tw o  million  deaths  each  year,  with  the  majority  occurring in  children  under  five.  Proper  household  water  and  sanitation  can,  however,  increase  resilience  to waterborne  disease  risks.  In  view  of  the  foregoing,  this  work  has  established  a  relationship  for sani tation  and  waterborne  disease  occurrences  in  Ondo  State  by  the  analysis  of  the  data  sourced from  the  Federal  Ministry  of  Water  Resources,  Federal  R epublic  of  Nigeria.  The used  the  stratified  sampling  procedure  to  prepare  the  N Ministry has ational  Water  Supply  and  Sanitation Baseline  Survey  Forms  that  had  been  administered  to  get  information  on  improved  sanitation, potable  water  supply  and  waterborne  disease  occurrences  in  Ondo  State,  Nigeria.  The  three variables  of  improved  sanitation,  pota ble  water  supply  and  waterborne  disease  occurrences  were correlated  and  equations  have  been  generated  to  predict  a  relationship  for  each  of  the  variables involved. The  model  equations  were  also  validated  and  returned  errors cases were  less  than  50%  in  all cases.
