ABSTRACT
The study sought to examine the Anti-Corruption Coalition Uganda (ACCU) in the fight against
corruption in the ACCU operations in central Uganda. The study objectives were; to identify roles
of ACCU in the fight againsf. corruption, to examine the challenges faced by ACCU in the fight
against corruption and to establish strategies that can be employed by ACCU in the fight against
corruption. A cross sectional survey was used in the course of the study. The study population
involved 100 participants was selected for the study. Data was collected from primary and
secondary sources using questionnaires and interviews. After collecting data, the researcher
organized well-answered questionnaire, data was edited and sorted for the next stage. The data
was presented in tabular form, pie charts and bar graphs with frequencies and percentages. The
study findings revealed that the sample constituted of 50 respondents of which 52% were males
and the 48% remaining were females. This implies that males are the majority due to societal
beliefs that they are hardworking and more capable of fighting against corruption in Uganda. The
study revealed that the majority of the respondents fell in the age category 36 - 45 with a 40%
representation. The study concludes that ACCU provides a platform through which civil society
organisations pressure government to be responsible and committed to improving transparency
and accountability in service delivery; and fighting corruption in the public sector. The study
recommends that foolproof laws should be made so that there is no room for discretion for
politicians and bureaucrats.
