ABSTRACT
The study assesses the impact of motivation on employees’ performance at SWISS Sierra Leone Development Foundation. The objectives of the study were: to assess the relationship between motivation and employee performance, which are being used by the organization in motivating their employees; to identify the motivation packages, which the organization used in motivating their employees; and to assess how employees' motivation affect employees’ performance.
A case study design was utilized and a sample size of 40 was incorporated. In collecting the primary data, the study used questionnaires and interview tools. Data were analyzed by using Statistical Package for Social Sciences (SPSS) and tables and figures were used to present data.
The study found out that different motivation packages were utilized at SSLDF and there is a relationship between motivation and performance which in turn impacted the staff to be productive in their job.
The study concluded that even though there are numerous reward packages used by Swiss Sierra Leone, yet still the management should inculcate reward policies that will ensure staff retention, and hence their ownership and loyalty to the employees will be felt.
The study recommended the involvement of such schemes in public offices, private and others so as to ensure competitiveness in workplaces. And also for more improvement to management and even to would-be researchers.
