Energy Audit, Optimisation and Management of Liquified Natural Gas Plants With Renewable Energy Resources Around the Plant: A Case Study of Brass LNG Limited, Brass Island, Nigeria

An energy audit on the Brass Liquified Natural Gas plant at Brass Island former Agip facility was carried. The average offshore windspeed and wave return periods for 12months  were measured for their wind and wave energy potentials. Also,  the solar insolation for the location was collected for a 12month period. A pilot design based on techno-economic analysis was made for a wind-solar- gas turbine hybrid power system and results showed it's cheaper, environmentally friend, and more efficient and sustainable running a hybrid power system incorporating  wind and solar energy systems to power the Brass LNG facility as  well as the entire Brass Island community than running on gas turbines and diesel powered generators alone. The unit cost of electricity was much less than that of grid electricity.
