                                                 ABSTRACT

A tort is a wrong either to person, property, community or even a nation. This wrong should not go without strict punishment especially when it is shown that the person who owes a duty to show reasonable care failed in his duty. Consumers worldwide are the same; there should be no room for comparison, disparity and partial treatment. There is a popular saying that ‘consumer is king’ or ‘consumer is always right’. In producing goods or rendering services, any  manufacturer of goods or service provider should ensure that what he brings into the market is fit for use. There must be a sense of responsibility and due care in the production process in order to eliminate all forms of hazards. Every consumer wants to get his money’s worth and in absence of that It is believed the manufacturer has failed in his duty. Nigeria is a country were anything goes, we need a lot of sensitization on our rights and obligations. Therefore, with adequate information dissemination especially through social media, we can get to the level of developed countries like America and the United Kingdom
