Conflict is an element of tragedy. The concept of tragedy right from the classical period has generated a lot of criticism that many dramatists or playwrights consider it a fertile ground through which they contribute to literature. One of such dramatists is William Shakespeare whose universality in writing has hitherto influenced generations. Shakespeare’s Hamlet is a dramatic work that reflects parts of the Aristotelian concept of tragedy with an infusion of comic relief, a play -within- a play and other dramatic elements.
