Deposit and Organization Performance of Selected Commercial Banks in Western Province of Rwanda

ABSTRACT 

The study was set out to establish the relationship between deposits and organization performance of selected commercial banks in western province of Rwanda. The objectives of this study are: (i) to determine the profile of the respondents in terms of age, gender, rank, income level, and highest education qualification (ii) to~ determine the level of deposits (current, savings, fixed, recurring, miscellaneous) in western province of Rwanda (iii) to determine the level of organization performance in terms of deposit assurance, profitability, customer satisfaction, employee satisfaction and increased shareholders’ wealth of commercial banks in western province of Rwanda(iv) to establish the relationship between deposits and organization performance of selected commercial bank in western province of Rwanda. The descriptive research design method was used in this study. It involves using questionnaire in collecting data from the respondents and both quantitative and qualitative research designs were used for data analysis. The SPSS was used to analyze all data. The study population comprised 148 employees of banks from which sample size of 108 respondents was chosen, using stratified random sampling method The findings of the study revealed that there is a significant relationship between the deposits and organization performance of selected commercial banks in western province of Rwanda Conclusion there was a very high level of deposits among commercial banks in western province. There was also a relatively high level of organization performance of selected commercial banks in terms of deposit issuance, market share, profitability, customer satisfaction, employee satisfaction and shareholders wealth. Recommendations bank should lay emphasis on customer satisfaction to ensure sustainable market share. This will enhance the customer loyalty to help improve market share the central bank of Rwanda should be vigilante on enforcing banking regulations as this contributions to strict deposit.
