DESIGN AND CONSTRUCTION OF A SELF FEEDING CASSAVA GRATING MACHINE

This project seek to modify the existing cassava grating machine to make it to be self-feeding in operation, to make the operation of the machine easier, safer The existing processing techniques used in the production of cassava starch and cassava dough leaves much to be desired. There are difficulties in the grating of the cassava dough, since the conventional methods available is time consuming and labour intensive. In the modified design, two side hopper, belt drives, gears and pulley will be used to achieve the proposed self-feeding cassava grating machine, also changes will be made to the belts as a result of increasing the center distance due to the hopper that will be introduced and a more speed reducing gear or box will be incorporated. Cassava will be fed with the Machine through the hoppers to be made of metal sheet to the granting drum, which will rotate at a constant speed. This process will grate the cassava into cassava pulp. The chute is to be constructed of metal sheet and it will accept the pulp and send it out.
