Intestinal infections like worms are common in many poor countries and even when continuous treatment is arranged at low cost, diagnostics and identification of treatment fails due to unavailability of diagnostic equipment and resources. With the proliferation of raspberry pi micro controller, data transfer networks and digital microscopy applications the stage is set for alternatives to conventional microscopy in endemic areas. Our aim was to show, as proof of concept, that it is possible to achieve point-of-care diagnostics by an inexpensive mini-microscope for direct visualization on a display and remote diagnostics by computer vision embedded in a 3D printed casing. As regards the design concept, there was co creation between health workers and lab technicians to identify their needs. These insights are interpreted and translated to an envisioned design concept, that is presented at the end of this report, The results show that parasitic schistosomiasis worm eggs can be recognized by imaging using two webcams stripped off the optics in reverse order. Images of eggs from the blood fluke S. haematobium present in urine of an infected patient could be interpreted visually and by computer vision. The method offers both an inexpensive alternative to conventional microscopy and diagnostic assistance by computer vision. This enhances both sustainability and affordability. The images captured by the device are processed by the algorithm embedded in the raspberry pi which helps healthcare staff to provide a reliable diagnosis, either in person or remotely.e
