Drug Therapy: The Psychotherapist Means of Treating Depression in Adolescents

Abstract

In cognitive theory of depression, how individuals views and interprete stressful events affect whether or not they become depressed.  Copping strategies and styles make a difference in whether or not a person becomes depressed when stressed up or faced with unpalatable situation or not  symptoms and causes of depression as highlighted dictates which medication suit each individual as the case may be, this is determined by professional health care givers like clinical psychologists, psychotherapist etc.  in this regard, depression is best treated using drug therapy as it involve the life of anti depressants like Barbiturate and sedative, Analgesics and Tranquilizers.  In severe or, incapacitating depression, medication is usually recommended. The finding reveals that there was no significant difference between male and female depressed adolescences and drug therapy hence the null hypothesis was accept. Table two shows vividly that there was significant difference between depressed middle and late adolescents and drug therapy. This is because girls are more prone to depression twice as boys due to gender roles. Data was analysed using T-test as conclusion was drawn.
