ABSTRACT
This study was undertaken to examine the relevance and appropriateness of the dual management structure of medical education in Nigeria with a view to identifying the issues within the structure which affect organizational efficiency in the medical school. The study population comprised the 26 federal and state government owned medical schools in Nigeria. A total of 512 respondents made up of 422 academic staff from the rank of Senior Lecturers and 90 administrative/technical staff who had spent 10years and above in the system were selected as it was felt that they would have a clearer understanding of the system. Six research questions guided the study while nine hypotheses were postulated to help achieve the objectives of the study. Data were collected using a questionnaire tagged the Dual Management Structure of Medical Education Evaluative Questionnaire (DMSMEEQ).
