The study determined the Effect of Cooperative Learning on Academic Achievement of Secondary School Students in Algebra. The study was carried out in Obudu Local Government Area of Cross River State. The research design for the study was quasi-experimental design. A sample size of 163 senior secondary one (SS I) students was used. Data were collected from the subjects using structured questionnaire tagged Mathematics  Achievement Test for Senior Secondary Schools (MATSSS) with reliability 0.65 using the Kuder-Richardson Formula 20. Three research questions and three research hypotheses were formulated to guide the study. The research questions were answered using mean while the hypotheses were tested at the 0.05 level of significance using the Z-test. Results from the study revealed that students taught Algebra using the cooperative learning strategy achieved higher than those taught using the conventional method of instruction. The study also revealed that both male and female students in the control group achieved the same in algebra while there was gender disparity in the achievement of male and female students in algebra in the experimental group with the female students out-performing the male students. The study recommends among others that teachers and students should be made aware of the immense benefit of cooperative learning approach on academic achievement of students in Mathematics
