Effect of Self-Efficacy, Welfare and Motivation on Secretary's Productivity

ABSTRACT

This study examine the effect of self-efficacy, welfare and motivation on secretary’s productivity in Lagos Secretariat, Alausa, Lagos State.

This study adopted descriptive research design. The population was drawn from Lagos Secretariat, Alausa, Lagos State. 50% were used to select one hundred and twenty-three secretaries that participated in this study. The instruments used were Generalized Self-Efficacy Scale (GSES); Economic and Welfare Packages Scale (EWPS); Employee Motivation and Performance Scale (EMPS) and Employee Productivity Scale (EPS). Data generated was analyzed, demographic data of the participant was analyzed using frequency distribution and percentage while simple linear regression analysis was used to test the hypothesis at the 0.05 level of significance with the aid of Statistical Package for Social Sciences IBM SPSS.

Findings from the study showed that there was no significant impact of self-efficacy on secretary’s productivity in Lagos Secretariat, Alausa, Lagos State; there was significant effect of economic and recreational welfare packages on secretary’s productivity in Lagos Secretariat, Alausa, Lagos State. The study also revealed that motivation has a significant impact on secretary’s productivity in Lagos Secretariat and there was significant relationship between Self-efficacy, welfare and motivation on secretary’s productivity in Lagos secretariat, Alausa, Lagos State.

This study concluded that self-efficacy, welfare, and motivation have a significant impact on the productivity of secretaries working in the Lagos Secretariat in Alausa, Ikeja, Lagos. It recommended that organization should ensure that secretaries are fairly compensated for their work. Conduct regular salary reviews to align their pay with industry standards and provide incentives or bonuses for exceptional performance. This will motivate them to perform at their best and increase their overall job satisfaction.
