Factors Affecting Curriculum Implementation In Management And Structure Of Teachers' Advisory Centres In Kiambuand Murang'a

ABSTRACT

The purpose ofthe study was to investigate the management and structure governing

the TACs operations. The statement of the problem was that the structure managing

the TAC tutors does not enhance effective service delivery of their job description.

The study surveyed the MoEST structure that manages the TACs. It further surveyed

a structure used at KIE whose functions are closely related with the activities of the

TACs and make relevant recommendations ofthe suitable management structure. A

survey design was used to study the problems on a sample selected by simple

random technique. The sample included 30 TAC-tutors, 39 QASOs, two DEOs and

90 schools where the headteachers were the respondents. The study was based on

results from only two districts, Thika and Murang'a South Districts and therefore it

was not possible to generalize the findings to the whole country. Some constraints

such as sufficient funds and time factor slowed the pace of the study. The population

targeted was the two districts (Thika and Maragua), Central Province in Kenya. The

data was analyzed qualitatively using Statistical Package of Social Sciences (SPSS).
