ABSTRACT
This study aimed to analyze the factors for employee job dissatisfaction in public sector a case of Kwimba District Council. The study specifically intended to identify the factors contributing to employee job dissatisfaction. The study also sought to examine the effect of employee job dissatisfaction in Kwimba District. The study employed a case study approach to examine the factors for employee job dissatisfaction and the sample was obtained through random method and purposive and total number of 85 respondents was interviewed from Kwimba District Council. Data also was collected through interviews, questionnaires, focus group discussion and documentary review. The analysis of data was through SPSS. Based on the study it was found that low salaries, poor working condition, poor leadership, poor organization policies, lack of motivation and poor knowledge on related career were the factors for employee job dissatisfaction. In additional low productivity, poor service delivery and search for alternative work (jobs) have been reported as the major effects of employee job dissatisfaction. The study therefore recommends that employers at Kwimba District Council should make use of other positive reinforcement (Public recognition and reward) in order to raise the morale of the employees and that of the employer. The employer should constantly review salaries and other fringe benefits to match the actual living cost. The employer should also hire only the right candidates. It is further recommended that an employee survey should be conducted by the employer every year in order to explore employee opinion and attitude which in turn will help in evaluating their job satisfaction.
