DESIGN AND CONSTRUCTION OF ELECTRICAL CODED DOOR LOCK SYSTEM

ABSTRACT Whenever we think of redefined security, we think of coded electrical door lock. It is a microcontroller based security door lock that can be used in homes, offices, laboratories, etc. for more reliable and high fidelity door control system, powered by electrons panel or electromechanical panels. Due to high rate of insecurity, especially intrusion into homes and offices, this project provides the users with an electronic keypad to enter the password required to get access into home...

DESIGN AND CONSTRUCTION OF A SOLAR POWERED MULTIPLE CELL PHONES CHARGING BOOTH

ABSTRACT Cell phones need electric sources to charge their batteries in order to work, but there are people in developing and third world countries that find it hard to access electric sources. In an attempt to provide an alternative means of charging to those unfortunate areas in third world and developing countries, a solar powered cell phone charging booth is to be designed and constructed in this project. The goal of this project is to create a multiple output solar cell phone chargers f...

CONSTRUCTION OF A 2.8KVA FUEL-LESS GENERATOR

Abstract In this work, a 2.8kva alternator was coupled to a 4 H.P dc motor acting as a prime mover to produce a fuel-less generator. The coupling was done using two crankshaft pulleys to match the speed of the alternator to that of the dc motor. Two 24v dc deep cycle batteries were also used as the exciter unit and a sustainable output voltage of 232V was achieved.      TABLE OF CONTENTS Title Page Declaration Certification. iii Dedication. iv Acknowledgement. v Table Of Contents. vi L...

Design and Implementation of Micro controller Based Smart Energy Meter Equipped with Prepaid Facilities

Today, humanity can be classified as living in a “machine society” where technological tools are predominantly at different levels interfacing in the day–to-day activity of man. These livelihood activities constitute and deliver economic, social and political benefits and potential risks to the survivability of nations –especially developing nations like ours. Energy meter has been classified as Electromechanical Energy Meters. It is regarded as the most traditional and widely used en...

Analysis of Energy Auditing in Nigerian Power Systems

Abstract  Energy is one of the major drivers for the economic development of any country. In order to reduce energy consumptions for sustainable development, continuous energy audit of industrial machines become necessary. Energy audit  is one of the most  comprehensive  methods in achieving energy  savings  in industry and  thus reducing  excessive  energy consumption.  This  paper  analyzes  energy  auditing  in  power  system  in  or...

Cuckoo Search Algorithm Optimization Approaches for Solving Economic Load Dispatch: A Review

ABSTRACT    Cuckoo search algorithm (CSA) is an effective and highly reliable swarm intelligence basedoptimization approach. It is a technique of determining the most efficient, low cost and reliable operation of a power system by dispatching the available electricity generation resources to supply the load on the system. This paper  presents a comprehensive review of CSA application in Economic Load Dispatch (ELD) problem. This review will assist po...

Stabilization Potential of Openly Burnt Coconut Waste AshesonA-7-5 Soi

Soil materials are a vital element in all civil engineering designs hence the first step in any geotechnical engineering project is to identify and describe the soil condition if not suitable, disposal or stabilization of the soil should be carried out . In lieu of these, this research was carried out to study the effects of coconut waste ash (CWA) derived from open uncontrolled burning on lime stabilized A-7-5 soil for road construction. Natural soil was collected from a borrow pit location ...

Modification of Palm Kernel Cracking and Separating Machine

Abstract- Palm kernel production potentials of several countries are far from been fully exploited. At present, many countries are operating below expected capacity. The motive of the project work is based on fabrication and modification of a palm kernel cracker and separator, so as to help farmers improve the efficiency of output based on time, reduce stress and injuries they incur in the process of cracking palm kernel and separating the kernel seed from the shells manually.  The major pri...

Development of low cost point of care device for detection of schistosoma Haematobium

Intestinal infections like worms are common in many poor countries and even when continuous  treatment is arranged at low cost, diagnostics and identification of treatment fails due to unavailability of diagnostic equipment and resources. With the proliferation of raspberry pi micro controller, data transfer networks and digital microscopy applications the stage is set for alternatives to conventional microscopy in endemic areas. Our aim was to show, as proof of concept, that it is possible ...

Dewatering in Construction Works

Dewatering means “the separation of water from the soil,” or perhaps “taking the water out of a particular construction problem completely.” Areas that once were deemed unsuitable for construction due to a high water table are now being developed to meet the needs of an increasing population. With the decline in land availability to build or expand highway networks above ground, underground facilities, such as mass-transit lines, may represent the future of transportation. Underg...

Prediction of the penetrated rust into the microcracks of concrete caused by reinforcement corrosion

Consider a steel-rust-concrete composite consisting of a circular cylindrical concrete cover and a coaxial uniformly corroding steel reinforcement. Prediction of the amount of rust penetrated into the microcracks of concrete cover from a set of data measured at the surface of the concrete is of particular interest. The steel is assumed to be linear isotropic and rust follows a power law stress–strain relation. For the concrete, anisotropic behavior and post-cracking softening model is emplo...

Application of nonlocal beam models to double-walled carbon nanotubes under a moving nanoparticle. Part II: parametric study

The capabilities of the proposed nonlocal beam models in the companion paper in capturing the critical velocity of a moving nanoparticle as well as the dynamic response of double-walled carbon nanotubes (DWCNTs) under a moving nanoparticle are scrutinized in some detail. The role of the small-scale effect parameter, slenderness of DWCNTs and velocity of the moving nanoparticle on dynamic deflections and nonlocal bending moments of the innermost and outermost tubes as well as their maximum val...

Application of nonlocal beam models to double-walled carbon nanotubes under a moving nanoparticle, Part I, theoretical formulations

The current work suggests mathematical models for the vibration of double-walled carbon nanotubes (DWCNTs) subjected to a moving nanoparticle by using nonlocal classical and shear deformable beam theories. The van der Waals interaction forces between atoms of the innermost and outermost tubes are modeled by an elastic layer. The equations of motion are derived for the nonlocal double body Euler–Bernoulli, Timoshenko and higher-order beams connected by a flexible layer under excitation of a ...

Free longitudinal vibration of tapered nanowires in the context of nonlocal continuum theory via a perturbation technique

The free longitudinal vibration of tapered nanowires is investigated in the context of nonlocal continuum theory. The problem is studied for the nanowires with linearly varied radii under fixed–fixed and fixed–free boundary conditions. In order to assess the problem in a more general form, a perturbation technique is proposed based on the Fredholm alternative theorem. The natural frequencies, corresponding mode shapes, and phase velocities of the tapered nanowires are derived analytically...
