Formal Education And Economic Development Acase Study Of Kyotera Town Council, Rakai District Uganda

ABSTRACT The study was conducted to find out the effects of formal education and economic development a case study of Kyotera Town Council Rakai District, A cross sectional survey research design was applied and qualitative research approach used. Purposive sampling was used and number of people were related including educated, the employed rich, moderate and poor both male and female. Data was analysed using descriptive statistics where frequency table and pie-charts were applied. The study findings indicated that formal education is the key determinant factor that contributes towards the economic development of Kyotera Town Council. This was ~:videnced by the 84% of respondents who gave in their views that all sectors like agriculture, defense, health, business and transport are being added by formal education to progress well. Therefore, the researcher concluded that formal education is a key determinant to economic growth and increased income, technical knowledge and development of c’amen, health and quality of workers the researcher recommended that formal aducation should be given the first priority since it is a key to development, institution ~e school, religion, NGO’s should emphasize tight illiteracy, adult education should be encouraged, free formal education should be promoted, working conditions for instance creasing salaries of workers to motivate them and finally infrastructure should be mproved such as laboratories, classroom blocks and others including Kyotera Town ouncil technical and Agricultural School should be encouraged.
