DESIGN AND IMPLEMENTATION OF ROAD MAINTENANCE MANAGEMENT INFORMATION SYSTEM (A CASE STUDY OF FERMA, ENUGU BRANCH)

ABSTRACT

The increasing demand for road transport in Nigeria and

the huge Government investment on roads have generated

the need to encourage road maintenance and sustainability.

This project work covers the importance of managing

information and the importance of keeping past records for

the Federal Road Maintenance Agency (FERMA) and how to

improve on it. And it also cover the following areas: work

monitoring process file, staff information file, road and

bridge maintenance file, amount spent file, road

maintenance file, and new road area file and how to

manage their information for future reference.

Documentation for the new system design is well

considered. Microsoft Visual Basic (V.B) 6.0 programming

language was used in developing the new system to meet

the present need in FERMA especially the one at Enugu

branch.
