Impact Of Agricultural Extension In Adaptation Of Agricultural Sector To Climate Change

Abstract

This study Aimed To Assess The Impact Of Agricultural Extension In

Adaptation Of Agricultural Sector To Climate Change , The Study Was

Conducted In Kijaira Adminstitive Unit Which Is Located In Elsalam

Locality In West Kordoan State.

A Questionnaire Was Formulated For Primary Data Collection,And A

Sample Of 111 Farmers Were Selected Randomly Using The Multi-Stage

Random Sampling Technique.

The Secondery Data Used Was Collected From Previous Studies, Books

Refrences And Reports Relateted To This Study, Also Theaverage Climatic

Variables Data (Rainfall, Tempreture , Relative Humidity) And Productivity Of

Millet, Dura And Groundnut Used, Data Collected Covered The Period From

2012 To 2017 .

The Data Was Subjected To Analysis Using The Statistical Packages For Social

Sciences(SPSS) Software ,

Frequency Distribution ,Correlation And Regression Were Established

To Assess The Strength Of Relationship And Effect Of Parameters On Yield.

The Studyconcluded Manyresults Such As :

1- 93,7% Of Those Covered By The Sample Did Not Received Any

Agricultural Extension Services .

2- 97,3% Of The Respondents Said That There Is No Positive Ipmact Of The

Agricultural Extension To Agricultural Sector .

3- 90,1% Of The Sample Members Did Not Received Agricultural Services.

4- 92,8% Of The Respondents Were Self- Reliance For Their Seeds .

5- 56,8% Of Those Covered By The Sample Said There Is Environmental Pollution Due Petroleum Processing In The Study Area .

6- 89,9% Of The Respondents Showed That Thereis Change In RainfallPattern.

7- Pearson Correlation Coefficient Revealed Very Strong Positive

Correlation Between Agricultural Extension And Dura Productivity

(0,946) ,Positive Medium With Groundnut (0,551) And Negative Weak

Correlation With Millet(-0,449 ) .

8- Results Of Regression Showed That The Agricultural Extension Had Very

Weak Coefficient Of Determinatation With Millet ,Dura And Groundnut

(17,2% , 21,2% , 2% Respectively ),This Means That There Is

Statistical Significant Relationship Between Agricultural Extension And

Low Productivity Of Millet ,Dura And Groundnut .

Acording To The Results And Findings The Study Recommened The

Following :

1- Strengthing The Agricultural Extension Sevices By Good Training To

The Staff Andfarmers , And Providing Proper Tecknologies .

2- Support The Agricultural Research To Bring Cropvarieties Which

Match With The Climate Change , Water Harvestintng Tools To Benefit From Rainfall Water And Preserve Soil From Deterioration .
