Impact Of Mobilization Of Local Communities To Adopt Technologies Of Genetically Modified Cotton (Abu Habil Scheme, Simeih Area)

Abstract

This study was carried out to assess the impact of mobilization of local communities to adopt technologies for transgenic cotton Abu habil agricultural schem  Simeih area Rahad locality North Kordofan state. the Objectives of this Study was to find out some of personal characteristics of transgenic cotton farmers, and the relationship between personal

characteristics of farmers and the mobilization of local communities, the relationship between personal characteristics of farmers , modern technologies for modified cotton, the reasons for the failure to mobilized the community to adopt technologies transgenic cotton and measure the impact of

mobilization the community to increase productivity of modified cotton . In the study researcher used the social survey method, where primary data was collected through direct individual interviews ، questionnaires, and

observation. Secondary data was collected from relevant institutions previous studies, reports internet ، and scientific papers Asample of intended (100) cotton farms wrer selected from (410) community members from the villages (Allah creem and Alodiat west) Different statistical procedures was used to analyzed the collected data using the statistical packages of social sciences (SPSS). through the computer to get table of frequency distribution and percentages and also test the correlation analysis hypotheses.

Som of The study findings were :

· 60% of respondents were male.

· 38% of respondents were in the ages (between 40 30)yeares.

· 76% of respondents were literate .

· 77% of respondents have been affected by the cultivation of

genetically cotton

· The existence of a significant relationship (0.006) at the level of significance 0.05 between educational level and mobilization

community.

· No significan relationship (0.92) at the level of significance 0.05 between personal characteristics and the adoption of modern technologies for cotton.

· Significant relationship( 007)at the level of significance 0.05

between the mobilization of local communities and adoption of modern technologies for cotton

· The existence of a significant relationship (0.001) between the adoption of modern technologies for cotton and increase

productivity at the level of significance 0.05.

Based on the findings the researcher recommends the following

· Strengthening community organizations to support extension

activities .

· the need for training agent of the development and methods of modern agricultural technologies.

· the need for more training of extension agents to use effective development methods and modern agricultural technologies.

Apply agricultural extension approach farmers field schools and encarge interactive community participation.

Future studies:

More studies on the negative effects of the cultivation of modified cotton (the appearance of lesions)

More studies on the obstacles to the mobilization of local communities.
