INTERNATIONAL INSTITUTION, FOREIGN AID AND DEVELOPMENT

International institutions , foreign aid and development

No nation can survive all by itself in the international arena. The need to relate with   other   nations   is   essential   in   pursuing   respective   national   interest.   These relationships can be between two nations which is called bilateral relationship or relationship  among  nations  more   than   two   which   is   referred  to   as   multi lateral relationship.   In order to maintain cordial relationships among nations, fora are created through international institutions (organisations) to ensure there is no chaos among nations or oppression of one nation by the other (Evans and Richard, 1998).

The essence of the interactions among nations is to meet the developmental needs in countries. Collier (2007) mentioned that, the international arena has strong and weak nations (politically, economically and the like). The weaker nations tend to be   more   reliant   on   the   rich   nations.   For   basic   developmental   issues,   stronger nations send  in   foreign   aid to help their   allies   in  attaining reasonable level  of development.
