ABSTRACT
With the inception of inclusive education in Kenya, leadership and management have to be changed in inclusive schools to suit the societal interests and need of learners. With this problem in mind, it was inevitable to determine what the profile of the respondents was, leadership styles of administrators; the level of adaptation of learners: and finally if there was any significant relationship between leadership styles and level of adaptation. Descriptive correlation survey method was adopted for efficiency, where two variables or correlations were compared from the sample size. Both quantitative and qualitative research methods were utilized to perform statistical analysis to produce results. However, the findings of the study revealed that male head teachers out numbered their female counter parts. That majority of the respondents were between 36-50 years of age, and more had 11 years and above experience. But majority of 54.55%, were ‘0’ level certificate holders and specially trained. Most schools had more than one disability, and head teachers varied their leadership styles depending on the situation on the ground. Democratic leadership style scooped 45.58% Finally, level of adaptation among inclusive learners included: class room environment, curriculum for learners with the special needs ,teaching and learning approaches , environmental adaption and effort of special teachers In conclusion the study revealed that the research study was both global and local problem that need to be addressed as the respondents vary their administrative and leadership skills depending on the situation.
