MANAGEMENT FUNCTIONS AND PERFORMANCE OF THE BANKING INSTITUTIONS IN UGANDA: A CASE STUDY OF EQUITY BANK, KABALAGALA BRANCH

ABSTRACT

The topic of the study was management functions and performance of the banking institution in Uganda. a case study of Equity bank Kabalagala branch. The purpose of this study was to describe the relationship between management functions and performance of banking institutions in Kampala Uganda.

The report considered three specific objectives lo r the study. namely: To determine the level of management funct ions inequity bank kabalagala Uganda: to determine the level or performance in Equity bank kabalagala; To examine whether there is a big relationship between the level of management functions & levels of performance in Equity bank kabalagala.

The study included some of the indicators of organizational performance and the hindrances of management in Equity bank Kabalagala branch. the research was conducted using non experimental research designs. the  designs were used to enable the researcher to collect  firsthand information from the respondents, ,which was analyzed using a data analysis package. both qualitative and quantitative research approaches were used. The researcher used 50 respondents who were the staffs or the organization.

The major findings showed that: Task, Accuracy Quality. Costs and time are the most common management techniques which me in Equity bank Knbalagala branch and all others branches at large. The researcher also found out that management reduces on the case of costs control and quality as well. Recommendations were made that Staff" development through training. researcher courses and education should be done in order to develop the staff which the  ability to improve on their skills. The organization should introduce systems like promoting effective employees and awarding them in order !'or them to ensure effective costs control.

Conclusions where made that organizational performance or a company depends on the availability  of inputs that facilitate the entire production process. The availability or management and all related performance does not come accidentally but it is a rather  deliberate plan that an organizations undertakes  to ensure that there are no short falls on  management neccessary for the efficient operations or an organization. Further study should be done on other strategies of improving Accounting and departmental operations, to establish the impact of management on the organizational performance, how management can be improved in an organization, How profitable can a company be without proper management and causes poor performance in an organization.
