ORGANIZATIONAL LEARNING, EMPOWERMENT AND CREATIVITY AMONG EMPLOYEES OF SOME FINANCIAL INSTITUTIONS IN ACCRA

ABSTRACT The purpose of this study is to examine the relationships among organizational learning, empowerment and creativity. The design of the study was a Cross- sectional survey design. A sample of 157 employees from four financial institutions in Accra, namely Barclays Bank, Ghana Commercial Bank, Ecobank Ghana Limited and Enterprise Insurance Company Limited was used for the study. Participants constituting 54% were from ages 25-35, 24% were from ages 18- 24 and 17% were also from ages 36 and above. Pearson Product- Moment correlation test, Hierarchical Multiple regression Analysis and Multivariate Analysis of Variance (MANOVA) were used to analyze the data. Results showed that, there is a significant positive relationship between organizational learning and creativity. Additionally, empowerment was also found to be significantly and positively related to creativity. Moreover, job satisfaction and age did not have any significant moderating effects on the relationship between empowerment and creativity. However, job satisfaction and age had significant moderating effects on the relationship between organizational learning and creativity. Finally, there was no significant impact of tenure on the level of organizational learning and creativity. The implications of the outcomes in relation to financial institutions and other organizations as well as employees are discussed
