Abstract
The study adopted descriptive research design. The population comprises all regular classroom teachers in the FCT. Multi-stage random sampling technique was used to select 10 Schools (5 each from secondary and primary schools) and 100 teachers ( 10 from each school) from two area councils ( Gwagwalada and Kwali ) in the FCT. A questionnaire titled:”Learning Disability Perception Survey (LDPS) constructed by the researcher was used for the study. The instrument was validated by two experts, while 0.87 reliability coefficient was arrived at. Four research questions were raised to guide the study. The result however showed that majority of the teachers had wrong perceptions about learning disabilities in all the aspects examined . The need for enlightenment and training of regular classroom teachers in the area of special education, employment of special education teachers and creation of psycho-educational assessment units in our various regular schools were the recommendations made.
