Perception Of The Effects Of Migration On Nonmigrant A Case Study Of Oye-Ekiti, Oye Local Governmet Area, Ekiti State

ABSTRACT

This study examined the perception of the effect of Migration on Non-Migrants in Oye

Town, Oye Local Government, Ekiti State. This study specifically examined the causes and

effect of migration on the non-migrants in Oye community. In carrying out the research, 200

copies of questionnaire were administered to the populace of Oye Town in which all were

retrieved. The findings shows that people migrated from their place of residence due to some

reasons perceived by the respondents, such as: need for education, better job, job transfer,

also, some respondents perceived the cause as an escape from family problems. It was also

realized that migration is of benefit to the immediate host community, such as civilization,

introduction to new technical know-how as well as relieve of migrant responsibilities. The

research work further investigated on the negative effect of migration as perceived ~y the

respondent in which was identified as inferiority by the non-migrants, reduction of labour force and as well as emotional feelings.
