Performance Evaluation Of Corrosion Inhibitors In Pipelines Using Cannon Amuricata (Cm) And Cassuttidfilifurmis Leaf (Cf) Plant Extracts

ABSTRACT

The inhibitive strength of

Canonamuricata (CM) and Cassuttidfilifurmis (CF) on mild steel

dissolution in 0.5 M H 2 SO 4 and 1 M HCl environment was studied using gravimetric and

electrochemical techniques. The results obtained indicate that all studied extracts of both plants are adsorption type inhibitors hence; t he adsorption of the inhibitors is in line with Langmuir

adsorption isotherm. Efficiencies of the inhibitors increased with an increase in concentration of the extract but decreased with increase in the period of immersion. Polarization findings showed

that the inhibitors affected both the cathodic and anodic half reactions and are regarded as a

mixed type in the acidic environments investigated . From the studies so far, maximum inhibition

efficiency values of 95.1%, 94.1% and 94.2%, 89.2% were obtained in 0.5 M H 2 SO 4 and 1 M

HCl environments for CM and CF. R Regression coefficient (R2) of 0.9892, 0.9994 and 0.9877, 0.9987 was obtained for CF and CM in HCl and 0.5 M H2SO4.
