ABSTRACT
The study assessed Procurement Best Practices on the Performance of Public Sector. The specific objectives of the study were; to assess the level of compliance to best public procurement practices by TBA, to analyze the barriers of best procurement practices in the public sector and to determine the relationship between best public procurement practices and performance of public sector’. The study adopted descriptive research design. The population of the study was 120 employees at TBA and a sample size of 92 respondents was used. Structured questionnaires and interview were used to collect data. The specific objectives of the study were; to assess the level of compliance to best public procurement practices by TBA, to analyze the barriers of best procurement practices in the public sector and to determine the relationship between best public procurement practices and performance of public sector The study found that accountability is highly observed by TBA in the procurement of goods and services as 52.2% of respondents strongly agreed, 27.2% agreed, and 19.6% disagreed and 1.1% strongly disagreed. The study found that there were barriers to best procurement practices in the public sector such and corruption was leading. Also the study found that there was a strong relationship between the Best Procurement Practices and Public Sector Performance ( . The study recommended the government to enforce the use of best procurement practices, public entities must ensure that skilled candidates are employed and government to enforce accountability to reducing corruption in procurement.
