Quality Assurance Practices and Sustainability of Private Based Secondary School Projects in Kampala Central Division — Uganda

ABSTRACT The purpose of the study was to investigate the relationship between quality assurance practices and sustainability of private based secondary school projects central division Kampala -Uganda. During the study purposive sampling was utilized because the study only considered the educated qualified respondents like teachers, head teachers and parents on P.T.A from the private based secondary school projects. The researcher collected data using a structured questionnaire and interviews as the main tool for data collection where, by convenience the researcher distributed questionnaires to the respondents depending on their nearness during the study. The research followed a descriptive correlation survey design in the study and Data was collected using a sample of 240 from a population of 600. Descriptive statistics indicated that the level of quality assurance practices was higher and sustainability was slightly low. SPSS was used during data analysis and the findings of the study indicated that most respondents were males with (69.7%) most of them were Bachelors that ranged between 26-30 years with (25.8%), (45.3%) and these had an experience of 1-2 years (35.7%). The level of quality assurance practices had an average mean which showed 2.66 (high) on likert scale, yet the level of sustainability of private secondary school projects in Central division Kampala — Uganda was rated low with an average mean of 2.24 on likert scale. Through the Pearson correlation and regression analysis, it was found that quality assurance practices and sustainability school projects are positively significantly related. A conclusion was taken that increase in the level of quality assurance practices, can increase the sustainability in private based secondary school projects in central division Kampala — Uganda. Thus the study recommends the management of private based secondary school projects should increase on the level of equity dimension; this will also improve on the level of sustainability in private based secondary school projects.
