Reported Incidence of Motorcycle crush in Pentecost Hospital

BACKGROUND TO THE STUDY

Motorcycle injuries are among the leading causes of disability and deaths and the main victims are the motorcyclists, passengers and pedestrians in the young reproductive age group (Peden, 2004; Solagrebu et al., 2006). The problem is increasing at a fast rate in developing countries due to rapid motorization and other factors (Galukande et al., 2009). Studies in Ghana have also shown that motorcycle crushes are among the leading causes of death and injuries, and that majority of road traffic fatalities and injuries occurred on roads in rural areas (Derrick & Faucher, 2009). However, this study examines reported incidence of motorcycle crushes in the city where Madina District was considered.
