Influence of School And Teacher Factors on School Social Adjustment of Secondary School Students in Lagos State

ABSTRACT

The study investigated the influence of school and teacher factors on school social adjustment of secondary schools in Lagos state. Ex-post facto experimental research design was adopted for the study while the study population comprised of all senior secondary school students in the 2019/2020 academic session estimated to be 5000. Simple random sampling technique was used to select a sample of 150 students to participate in the study.  A 45 items questionnaire was used to elicit response from the participants. Four null hypotheses and four research questions were formulated to guide the study. One sample t-Test, independent sample t-Test and Pearson’s Product Moment Correlation were used to analyse the data generated in the study. The findings of the study revealed that the level of social adjustment of students is very high. Female students scored significantly higher in social adjustment than male students. It was also revealed that both school factor and teacher factor have a significant relationship with the social adjustment of secondary school students. Based on the findings, recommendations were made in order to improve the social adjustment of students in Lagos State.
