Resource Management and Project Implementation in Selected Primary Schools in Chamwino District, Tanzania

ABSTRACT The purpose of this study was to determine if there was a significant relationship between the degree of resource management and project implementation in selected primary schools in Chamwino District,Tanzania.The objectives of the study were to establish the profile of the respondents as to gender, age, marital status, level of education and length of service; to determine the extent of resource management in selected primary schools in Chamwino district, in Tanzania and to determine the level of project implementation in selected primary schools; as well as to establish if there was a significance relationship between the extent of resource management and the level of project implementation. The findings of the study showed that men had little contribution to the implementation of the project compared to the women and youth who showed concern in the implementation of the project.Not only the communities were responsible for the implementation of the project, but also other stakeholders such as district council, agencies donors and the central government in general were very important in the implementation of the projects. Although the project were handled over to the locals, they still need technical and financial support from other stakeholders.The following stakeholders were considered in terms of their responsibilities to the project implementation. Community members as the beneficiaries, community leaders, politicians, community professionals, the government officials and administrators. Local councils and NGOs all of them had some degree of responsibility as far as resource management and project implementation was concerned.Teachers were respondents in any of the selected primary schools included in the study male or female teachers. Teaching staff with teaching experience ranging from one year and above. From the list of qualified respondents chosen based on the inclusion criteria, the systematic random sampling was used to finally select the respondents with consideration to the computed minimum sample size.
