This study dealt with the role played by broadcasting media in fighting against domestic
violence in Kampala Uganda. The methodology used was both descriptive and
explanatory. The study was based on analysis of secondary and primary data about
domestic violence in Kampala district and Uganda in particular. Data was collected by
use of questionnaires and interview guides. A case study research design was used to
select the respondents from Kampala district and all beneficiaries. The findings from the
research were in position to show the role played by broadcasting media in fighting
against domestic violence in Kampala. The report had five chapters with several sub
sections under each chapter. Chapter one presented the introduction, under which we
have subsections such as; Background of the study, statement of the problem, research
objectives, research questions, scope of the study and significance of the study, Chapter
two presented the literature review about the role played by broadcasting media in
fighting against domestic violence in Kampala district, Chapter three described the
methodology used in collection of data. Then after chapter four and five were added after
the research report was produced, Chapter four involved presentation, analysis and
discussion of findings and chapter five involved conclusions, summary and
recommendations. The study concludes that UBC Television is dealing in a variety of
things targeted towards prevention of domestic violence especially for the local people
but it still faces challenges like competition, resistance form community leaders and strict
media laws. From the study, it is recommended that if domestic violence is to be reduced
by UBC Television and adopted policies be made more effective and successful,
Kampala district as a whole, opinion leaders, parents, the government and local leaders
must connive and work together.
