Abstract
This study was aimed at ascertaining the most preferred drugs in treating malaria fever in Delta State. A field survey was carried with 200 questionnaires distributed to health professionals at some selected hospitals. The data obtained were analyzed using percentages, bar chart and hypothesis testing via ANOVA and Chi-square. The result indicated that at 0.05 level of significance, some anti-malaria drugs are more preferred than others and Sulphadoxine/Pyrimethamine (SP) combinations such as Amalar, Fansidar, Maloxine, and Ritadar drugs, and next Artesunate single (dose drugs), followed by Artemissin combination therapy (ACT) (such as coartem, cotexcin) are the most preferred anti-malaria drugs in Delta State. The result shows that the perception of preferred anti-malaria drugs is independent of the status of health professionals.
