Student Enrolment And Selection Of Public Day Secondary School In Magumoni Division, Meru South Distrct, Kenya

ABSTRACT

This study set out to explore the student enrollment and selection of public day secondary

schools in magumoni division, meru south district, Kenya" In this chapter the major findings

of the study are discussed and interpreted.

The discussion of the findings of the present research was based and centered on the major

research objectives and questions directing the study. To determine the social and economic

constraints /problems facing day secondary schools in Magumoni division, To establish the

sources offinances used in running doy secondary schools, to find out the role of day

secondary schools in provision of secondary education, to investigate the reasons behind

students' preference to day secondary schools over boarding secondary schools

Based on the results this study recommends the following: The government and the

stakeholders to increase secondary schools allocations or make it free starting with the day

secondary schools where the question of boarding fee is not pre requisite, The government to

ensure equity in teaching staffs in all disciplines, The problems of drugs and substance abuse

should be addressed so as to save the C:rop out and wastage rate in the secondmy schools

level, The influx caused by the free primmy education since the year 2003 can only be

counteracted by an increase of day secondary schools which do not call for heavy investment or initial cost.
