SUSTAINING EMMERGENCY MANAGEMENT VANGUARDS IN NIGERIA.

As the sun rises in a country like ours, most people try to begin their day with a positive mindset despite the ongoing mishaps that affect them directly or indirectly. Just last week, I was reliably informed that our proposed fitness exercise in the stadium would not hold due to security challenges in the country. This goes a long way to portray the negative effect of such challenges as it affects our essential life in a world filled with unspeakable uncertainties. It doesn’t matter if a disaster has been launched or yet to be launched at your door step. A threat to one is a threat to all. It affects us all! Flood, windstorm, fire outbreaks are some of the disasters inherent in our blessed Nation. A careful look at disasters and their causes; prevention and control; roles of Emergency Management Vanguard in disaster management; and a sustainability plan to ensure its continue existence are some of the areas seeking attention. It is in view of this that I humbly write to throw some lights on some of these key areas.
