ABSTRACT

This study was set forward to determine the attitude of teachers towards

learners with hearing impairment in an inclusive setting with Halbet zone in

Garissa district being an illustrative example. The general objective or purpose of

the study was to investigate regular teacher's perception towards learners with

hearing impairment in an inclusive setting. While reviewing related information to

the topic of study, the researcher sought for ideas of prior scholars whose

suppositions and contentions were similar the problem under study.

The study employed a descriptive design as this had been viewed as the most

appropriate design and data was analyzed using percentages and frequency

table.

From the study findings, it was realized that there were many children with

hearing impairment in the regular schools within Halbet zone. A recommendation

was therefore made that although a considerable number of teachers seem to be

changing their attitude towards learners with hearing impairment there is a lot to be done to ensure full attitude change.
