ABSTRACT The researchers seek to carry out a detailed study on teacher’s attitudes and academic performance in regular primary schools in East Karachunyo Division in Rachuonyo District Kenya. The study was conducted in selected regular primary schools in the Division to represent all the schools in East Karachuonyo Division. The teacher’s attitudes and academic performance of learners with physical handicaps has been studied in details and possible solutions have been suggested on how to improve their performance. The targeted population included pupils, teachers and head teachers. The researcher distributed the questionnaires which they satisfactorily and appropriately responded to. In total 20 teachers were targeted but oniy 18 questionnaires were returned. Of the 25 pupils targeted, 22 questionnaires were returned and 19 questionnaires meant for the head teachers were received back. The researcher employed survey as research design and both qualitative and quantitative approaches were used. The sampling procedure used was random sampling. Data collection procedure involved use of questionnaires that were first pre-tested, adjustments made and then sent to the respective respondents. The researcher then collected the analyzed and interpreted raw data using tables, pie charts and bar graphs. The findings of the study revealed that the physical environment was not adapted and modified. The attitude of teachers and pupils was also found to be negative. The researcher therefore recommended that sensitization begun to various stakeholders in order to change their attitude. The school environment to be adapted and modified for easy mobility. Learners with physical handicaps should be given extra time to accomplish their work and individual attention be given to them. Finally, further research be carried in other parts of the country to ascertain these findings
