ABSTRACT
This study investigated the contributions of teachers‟ motivation towards job performance; basing on 4 study objectives as described in. However, the study which was conducted in Iringa Urban District due to the grounds related to academic matters was sought to find out whether teachers‟ motivation has an effect on work morale towards their job performance. A cross sectional survey design was adopted for collection of data from different schools, at one point in a time. Qualitative and quantitative as the study approaches were used for triangulation purpose, with a total sample of 130 respondents. Data were collected through semi structured interview, questionnaires and direct observation which supplemented the information collected. The study employed content analysis for quantitative data and thematic analysis for qualitative data Furthermore, the study used stratified random sampling for selection of teachers, while purposive sampling were for schools, heads of schools, WECs, MSEO, TTU, TSD and ZQA officers. Results achieved in this study showed poor motivation for teachers, a situation which had a domino effect on academic and job performance, hence the study is expected to contribute on awareness to the government and other educational stakeholders about the importance of teachers‟ motivation towards job performance. Due to inadequate motivation packages to teachers as evidenced by their complaints, the study recommends an increase in salaries, introduction of some common allowances and other professional development programmes.
