THE ROLE OF CULTURE IN ORGANISATIONS


ABSTRACT: Most recent researches have focused on organisational culture. Little effort has been made in the area of the role, functions and significance of culture to organisations. The objective of this research paper is to conceptually establish the important roles that culture plays in organisations. From the review of related or extant literature, this research findings has established that organisational culture unifies the work force, keeps them motivated and loyal to the management, provides a sense of direction o he employees and defines the organisation identity, colour and direction. On this basis, this paper therefore concludes that organisational culture plays a significant role in the performance and success of organisations. Thus, this research paper recommends that every organisation that intends to succeed must as a matter of importance, maintain the culture that will enable such organisations to attain her optimal potentials, motivate organisation members and create a conducive atmosphere for the attainment of organisational objectives.
