The study of reducing risks lied on the contractor in construction project case study of Khartoum state

Abstract

The big construction projects suffer from problems of delay and increasing in cost compare cost of the estimated. This is due to the nature of construction industry risky. Most of the projects occur once and a unique does not repeats. Each project differs from the other and there is no two projects agree in all characteristics and conditions, which makes each project has a particular circumstances and challenges and related has been exposed to a lot of projects to a number of the risks during the period of implemented until you finish of them.

That the style the prevailing and used to face risks in the construction industry is the monitor the amounts backup added to the total cost to meet these risks in order to determine by this amounts backup on the basis of sound and development of an effective system and economic management of these risks occur at the beginning of the project study of risks and the expected to identify the most suitable methods of dealing with these risks until it is to avoid any consequences of future effect on the success of the project.

This research about all risks faced by contractor in the construction projects in the state of Khartoum. The research has supported by a questionnaire explained through the target group set of risks and varied between the environmental risks and risks of financial represented in the weakness of financial position of the owner by high ratio effect76% and delay payments on the subcontractors and contractors by probability of incidence52% . Risks were relationship by experience of contractor by ratio effect 42% and his control on work by ratio effect 47.6%, risks of site by ratio effect42%, risks of laws by probability of incidence 57%, overlapping the role of engineer between an arbitrator of the project and its role towards the owner by ratio effect 57% and the nature of the construction industry risky unexpected by ratio 47.6%. It was noted the risk management and need to be used in construction projects to reduce the risk.
