This study explored the relationship between parenting styles and attachment behaviours among young children in Lagos, Nigeria. Three research objectives and corresponding three research questions guided the study. The research adopted a quantitative research design. 60 parents selected using a snowballing sampling technique took part in the study. Data for the research was obtained through an online survey. The collected data were analysed descriptively using frequency counts, percentages, and charts. It was found in the study that an authoritative parenting style is typical of parents in Lagos, Nigeria, although there is also a touch of authoritarian approach. It was also found that most of the children have a secure attachment style. The study further confirmed that there is a relationship between authoritative parenting style and secure attachment style. The study then concluded that there is a link between parenting style and attachment behaviour. Again, parents’ level of education can determine the style of parenting they adopt. Based on the findings and the conclusions reached in the study, it was recommended that parents should try to understand their children, especially their needs and feelings. Also, parents should educate themselves about how best to train their children in modern times.
