ABSTRACT
The study focused on workplace conflict and employee performance in selected branches of Dahabshii Company in Mogadishu, Somalia. Four objectives guided the study namely; the characteristics of the respondents, factors associated with workplace conflicts ·among employees, the degree of performance of employees, relationship between workplace conflict and employee performance and strategies for enhancement of the performance of employees. The study used the cross-sectional survey research design in which questionnaires were the main data collection instrument. From a population of 150 elements, a sample size of 108 respondents was used. The sample was selected using the stratified sampling technique. The study revealed that there were various causes of conflicts in Dahabshil Company. The most common causes included; compensation system. On the part of employee performance; it was found that employees were not reporting to work in time. Furthermore, neither did the employees carefully follow company regulations and procedures nor reported to work on a daily basis without maintaining their work schedules. The study concluded that there were many causes of workplace conflicts which impacted on employee's performance both positively and negatively. This was however not confirmed by the hypothesis tests. It was thus recommended that; investing enou;Jh time in collecting and analyzing data about employee relations within the organisation, introduction of training and education programmes, creating conducive working environment for employees to work in harmony and improving communication and information flow among employee~ were instrumental in dealing with workplace conflicts.
