FEEDING MANAGEMENT PRACTICES OF FREE-RANGE CHICKEN UNDER THE CLIMATIC CONDITION OF ZAMBOANGA DEL SUR

51 PAGES (8749 WORDS) Agricultural Science Paper

The study was conducted to

determine the performance of free-ranged native chicken under the feeding

management practices of
Mahayag

livestock breeding center,
kaangayan,

mahayag,

zamboanga

del sur. The study focused on

determining the best feeding management for birds. The organic feeds

used were
adlai

grits, rice grains, banana stem and
kangkong

following

a randomized complete block design (
rcbd).

  In

the analysis,

Among

the

three locally compounded rations, treatment 3 or the combination of 25%
adlai

+ 20% chopped banana stem + 25% rice grain + 30%
kangkong

was found to be least costly while resulting to a high average final weight of

the
birds.

Based

on

economic benefits, ranged chicken provided with indigenous feedstuffs and

natural concoctions gave higher economic return compared to birds provided with

commercial ration and synthetic supplements (vitamins and antibiotic
).

One

of

the profound effect on the growth performance of the birds is due to adverse

environmental condition that the birds experienced which results to a low feed

conversion efficiency and weight gained.

  Based

on the abovementioned findings,
Researchers

highly recommend that further feed analysis and follow-up studies are needed to

improve the nutritional value of the formulated poultry feeds.
