Abstract:

This thesis is action research that tries to explain different financing mechanisms that should be put in place to try to give a quest for making the achieving of sustainable development goal nine possible in Kenya. The Addis Ababa Action Agenda mainly guide the financing mechanisms. The Addis Ababa Action Agenda was formed when different heads of states came together in Ethiopia in July 2015 and implemented a guide that would be used to be able to achieve the 17 Sustainable Development Goals. Sustainable development goals were formulated after the 8 Millennium Development Goals. The purpose of this research was to be able to offer an alternative solution towards the long-existing problem of resource allocation through the implementation of the Addis Ababa Action Agenda towards the financing for development where resources are mobilized to support the achievement of sustainable development goal 9. The data of this study emanated from both the structured questionnaires that were administered to the targeted population as well as semi-structured interviews that were conducted to the different heads of different ministries and financial institutions. Data analysis was done using SPSS statistical software while the qualitative data was analyzed by coding the variables of the study using ANOVA. The findings demonstrate that with a proper public-private partnership in financing for infrastructure and industrialization, then there is more flow of finance and the mobilization of the resources is much easier hence making the country sustainable when it comes to the achievement of sustainable development goals. In conclusion, the study answers the question regarding the financing for development and how we can use the implementation of the Addis Ababa Action Agenda as an alternative mechanism towards the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goal 9 in Kenya.
